‘My Wife’ is part of a series where each piece is painted on an immigration document. Kulikovska paints a nude woman in each piece in the series, emphasising the fragility of the human body. She brings a human perspective to these bureaucratic processes, depicting the full lives that exist beyond the document. Despite these full lives, we are reduced to our nationality and occupation when immigration offices decide where we are allowed to go.
