Turquoise Summer captures a fleeting moment of immersion, where a figure seems to move between water and air. It is impossible to say with certainty whether we are witnessing a dive, a swimmer suspended beneath the surface, or simply a body caught in an instant of movement — and this ambiguity gives the scene its dreamlike quality. The figure appears to emerge from the surrounding turquoise landscape only to dissolve back into it, as though summer itself has absorbed the boundaries between body, water, and light.
Deep turquoise, cobalt, and emerald tones create an enveloping aquatic atmosphere, punctuated by flashes of ochre, gold, and pale skin tones. Thick, gestural strokes, dripping paint, and fragmented forms reinforce the sensation of movement and submersion. Rather than depicting a particular moment literally, the painting holds onto the sensation of it: the coolness of water, the weightlessness of the body, and that suspended instant between one breath and the next.
