A richly textured figurative composition, Copper Bathtub presents a reclining figure immersed in a dense interplay of warm copper, ochre, rust, muted sage, and deep charcoal tones. The pale body stands out against the surrounding earthy palette, while flashes of turquoise and cool blue introduce sharp accents of contrast and vibrancy.
Broad, gestural brushstrokes, thick impasto, scraped passages, and visible drips give the surface a raw, tactile quality. The figure and bathtub are rendered through fragmented planes of colour rather than precise contours, allowing forms to dissolve into the surrounding space. Warm metallic tones dominate the composition, creating an atmosphere that feels intimate and physical, while the expressive handling of paint brings a sense of movement and immediacy to the scene.
