Siesta captures a quiet moment of repose, depicting a woman peacefully asleep on a sofa. Her red-orange dress dissolves into the surrounding upholstery, merging figure and setting into a single field of saturated colour, while flashes of lavender, pink, green, and turquoise animate the composition.
Loose, expressive brushwork and layered paint give the scene a sense of immediacy, allowing the sleeping figure to emerge and disappear within the vibrant interior. The contrast between the intensity of the palette and the stillness of the woman creates an intimate atmosphere, evoking the warmth and languid ease of a peaceful afternoon.
